Meet the Artist
Hello, my name is Sheridan "Dezi" May, and I am a photographer and artist located in the heart of Surrey, England.
For those wondering, Dezi is a childhood nickname which is still very much in use with those who knew me back then. There's a story behind it regarding my brother, the Beatles song "Oh-bla-di-oh-bla-da" and a so-called miscarriage of justice - I won't bore you with it now but if you ever want to know just ask!
I've always been drawn to the natural world and its beauty, and at the age of 11 first fell in love with photography, a passion that continues to this day. Since I was 20 I've had the privilege of travelling the world extensively both for work and leisure, an experience that has led me to be able to capture some truly unique faces and places along the way which have been a huge inspiration in my creative journey.
It wasn't until COVID-19 struck, when movement and travel were severely restricted, that I discovered the joys of creating something new with alcohol inks and acrylic paints. Curiosity led to experimenting, experimenting led to learning, learning led to obsession - and I've been hooked ever since!
Like music, theatre and poetry, art is a very personal and subjective thing. So when I create something that resonates with another person it gives me a great thrill, and for that creation to then end up in a person's home is a true privilege and joy.
I hope you enjoy browsing through the various galleries on the website including a small selection of photographs that represent what inspires me in my creative journey.
I would love to hear from you if you have any questions or would like to discuss purchasing a painting or a piece of functional art.
